Dockside website
Where City Meets Waterfront

Dockside

A prime waterfront location in Whitby was unknown and wasn't quite ready for development. My role as design lead, was to create a website that would be used
to promote and RSVP for events on location and bring awareness to the Whitby waterfront and surroundings. A strong social component was the main feature of
this campaign.

Conclusion

I worked alongside a multidisciplinary team that included marketing, web developers, photographers, and stakeholders. Ideation began after a visit to where the events would take place and exploring the surrounding neighbourhood. Online research of other RSVP event sites and destination websites helped to visualize the possibilities for Dockside. For an immersive experience, the team created and optimized a considerable amount of video content for the website.

Working closely with the web development team, I ensured the rich content was optimized and did not impede visitors' speedy access to the website. Mobile and desktop devices were also considered, and workarounds implemented when testing showed slow load times with specific devices. I also designed a personalized email campaign that included registration, confirmation, and reminder emails.

After the site launch, we used tools such as Hotjar, Google Analytics, and A/B testing to evaluate friction points and make updates based on the data. The website gathered thousands of interested registrants' info for the future condominium project. Hundreds of social media posts were made by attendees, and the number of visitors grew over time. Message me if you have questions about this project or others on the site.
